Luck of the Irish - Fact or Fiction
By Cheri Ruskus
“The lucky or successful person has learned a simple secret to call up, capture, evoke the feeling of success. When you feel successful and self-confident, you will act successfully.” - Maxwell Maltz
There is a variety of thinking tied to the word, Luck. One thing for sure is that there is a debate about whether it is fact or fiction. The fiction seems to be tied to stories of little leprechauns out there conjuring up luck for us in their proverbial pots of gold. Fact on the other hand gets a bit grayer. There are a variety of notions and potions that are believed to bring luck but could it actually be true that we in fact create our own luck?
Think about the times that your life has been clicking along just as you wanted it to and maybe even more. You are in the flow and good luck finds its way to you each and every day. When you look at a “lucky” person there usually are a few common denominators that they hold near and dear to them.
The first is a strong positive attitude and belief that life will unfold as planned. No matter what life gives out, the person of this mindset usually only sees the best in every situation. Always finds the silver lining to the clouds that may be passing by. Daily gives altitude to their attitudes actually finding their own luck in all that they do. No small blessing or detail of life goes unnoticed.
Secondly, those that seem to have luck written all around them are those individuals that consistently maintain the power of attraction. Similar to the idea of “what goes around comes around these people greet each day envisioning what they want as if it has already come to play. When it doesn’t happen as plan they simply get out there and try again.
Where do you stand when it comes to luck in your life? Do “lucky” things happen to you easily and consistently? Do you find yourself smiling on a regular basis at the occurrences in your life? Even when not so good things happen do you look beyond them and give merit to the reasons that they occurred in your life in the first place?
There is the term, “happy go lucky”, that refers to living life in a carefree and unconcerned manner. Perhaps this one of best definitions of all because it is a similar pattern in the “lucky” people you meet along the way. Those successful people that find the rays of sunshine in each and every day. With confidence and ease they glide through life making their own luck, being a generator of luck. Those of us that find ourselves “lucky” enough to be around such people are given the extra blessing in life of their presence. Hopefully, we in turn can be that to others.
Take a look at your own life and determine how you make your luck. You may not win the lottery tomorrow, but with a strong can do attitude and confidence in yourself, the smiles that will follow you wherever you may go will become contagious. Just ask the leprechauns!
