June 2011 Editorial

Welcome to June!  Welcome to Summer!

With the summer solstice almost upon us we mark the halfway point in 2011. This has always historically for me been one of my favorite months of the year as the possibilities of summer come to life.  In the Victory Circles we focus on the Master Mind Principle of Imagination and the role it plays in our role as an Entrepreneur.

This month’s cover story came to life in the most delightful way, as I actually got to know a Victory Circles member who has been a neighbor of mine for many, many years.  As I went to visit Mimi Farrelly at her beautiful studio just up the country road from me we instantly fell into a rich and delightful conversation.  She shared with me something I did not know about the word Entrepreneur.  Mimi enlightened me with the fact that the word entrepreneur was coined by an Irish French Economist with ‘”Entre’” being between or among and ‘”Preneur’” from the verb pawn to take – the sense.”

Mimi went on to share the definition as,  “A person who has possession of a new enterprise, venture, or idea and is accountable for the inherent risk or outcome.”

Mimi also shared the idea of a social entrepreneur – something I just hadn’t thought of before as, “one who is driven by an emotional desire to address some of the big social and economic conditions versus a desire for profit.”  While I think at so many times  I am more of a social entrepreneur I desire also to get that profit piece up to snuff as well.  A point that can be a fine line when you are allowing your imagination to take full rein at times.

Enjoy this month’s articles on running a more efficient business in order to have more time to play not only in the joys of summer but in the throes of your imagination as well.

To Your Successes and Victories,

Cheri
