Personality Makers

By Cheri Ruskus, Business Victories

Napoleon Hill had this to say about the success principle of having a pleasing personality in his book, Laws of Success.   “By far, the most important part of your personality is that which is represented by your character.  Therefore it is also the part that is not visible.”

How we make our way through each day is usually determined by the varied personalities inside each of us that decide to come out to play.   There is no doubt that the human psyche is complex and by standing back and understanding how it plays out in others as well as in ourselves gives us a much better opportunity of living fully each day.  It also does not require that we have a Masters in Psychology to understand and utilize the basics.

Think of the time you spend each day insuring how others see you on the outside, from the way you dress, to the way you wear your hair.  Sure it is important, especially for success in business, but understanding what is below the surface is even more critical.

Recently we have asked several expert trainers to bring programs to our Facilitators and Members in the Victory Circles that share some great techniques in looking at personality types as part of the process towards success.  These range from the way you run your business, to how you sell to others, to how you move about in your daily life.

Here is a brief look at the trainers and what they add to the equation:

Laurie Taylor, a business growth specialist with FlashPoint! asks in her Destination Greatness program,  Who is your running your business?  She takes participants through a Growth Challenges Biz Quiz to discover how well you are focusing on critical aspects of your business.   In her personality profiles she helps others to see the business strengths of these five types:  Water Walker, Torch Bearer, Contender, Gambler, and Prisoner.  She opens up the understanding of how each personality comes to work in your business daily.

Liz Wendling, Sales Coach with Insights Business Consultants recommends that we not always look at ourselves when we sell but the person we are selling to.  In her personality test of choice, The Color Code, you discover how your personality matches up with those of your buyers in order for you to help those buyers build their confidence in you.

J. Tamar Stone of Voice Dialogue Connection has spent her career engaging in the work her father brought to life, The Voice Dialogue Process.  The methodology embraces the myriad of personalities or “Selves” that live within the human psyche.  Over the last several years, Tamar has been creating a card deck called Selves in a Box that helps you to think outside your inner box. Through random draws and spreads, your "Selves" come to life. You have a chance to see how each sub-personality reflected by the cards best resonate with you and the question you asked before hand about your life and/or business.  These personalities range from The Procrastinator to The Entrepreneur.  Each card helps us to see the strengths and qualities that these sub- personalities bring to our lives.

There are no wrong or right, good or bad choices in any of these ways of looking at personalities.  Each allows us to gain a deeper insight into the potential of what we can see as we look out into the world around us.  It also helps us to see what we project to others.  These three master trainers and their work have been chosen to work with the women entrepreneurs of the Victory Circles primary because their work best reflected the wide opportunities, insight and possibilities that are available to each of us.

Open your mind to the depths of your personality(s).  Explore the uniqueness that these variety of personality types offer.  And embrace who you are and what you offer to the world.   Learn how your thoughts determine your success or hold you back from success.  The beauty of open-minded thinking is that is allows for delicious results that belong to each of us individually – one personality at a time.
