"Successful people create each day newly." - Rochelle Toga Figa

Good morning and happy Presidents Day!  As the sun makes its way over the horizon, a thought comes to mind that I have had over previous President's Days.

The thought being, since we have combined Washington and Lincoln's birthdays making it one day anyway, why don't we make it Leadership Day.  The idea based on the foundation that this one day each year we honor the people who stand out from the "norm", those people who make a stand for their ideas and belief's, as true leaders do.

The role of leadership is not an easy one and it takes self-confidence to a whole new level.  It takes doubt and disbelief and puts it to the curb.   Let's face it; if you are going to be an effective leader there is no time for worrying about what woulda, coulda, or shouda's.  It is about getting the job at hand done now, today.  That is what I love about this mornings quote - because it is in fact about starting each day brand new.

Last week I shared with you a special call I was hosting on Wednesday (part of our Victory Teleseminar series) that was entitled going from Survive to Thrive.  Rochelle Toga Figa who was our guest speaker, walked us through the 6-key steps to making that happen as she shared her own true-life story in the process.  Not only did these elements help her to great success and true joy in her life, but she also kicked the butt of breast cancer in the process.  Here are Rochelle's 6 steps towards thriving in your life:

1.    Shift the way you think.  Acknowledge your negative thoughts - write them down and prepare to change them.

2.    Decide what you are going to do to move yourself forward.  Say, I am going to do _______________.

3.    Look at how you can be your authentic self.

4.    Reach out to others and you will be amazed at how many reach back. Ask yourself, how you contribute to others?

5.    Let go of the past.  There is absolutely nothing we can do about things in our past that weren't so great, so move forward.

6.    Create a clear vision of where you are going.

Think of the leaders you admire and I would bet that they took a big chunk,  if not all of these steps, along their way.  If you would like to hear more of this recorded conversation you can hear it fully at www.victorycircles.com/events/teleseminars.

So here come the questions - What are your unique thoughts and ideas that you share with the world that make you a leader?  Or what have you been holding back that could make you a great leader?  Who is it that you lead?  It could be anyone from your children - to co-workers - to customers - to the people you meet day-in and day-out.

One thing for sure it is not an easy task to be a leader because your belief in your self must be so strong.  You must discover ways, when you start to falter, to pull yourself back up in the saddle again.

When your self-confidence starts to wane - remember your vision for the difference you can and do make, enabling you to continue to move forward.  When the naysayers start jabbering away (and oh they will - sometimes it's our self!), find the strength and conviction to keep on keeping on!

Leadership sounds easy in theory but it is perhaps one of the toughest roles we have to play out.  Let the Leader in you thrive in the week ahead  - and beyond!  Imagine making all the difference even if it is in the life of just one other human being.
